Probiotic Beverages to Show Your Gut Some Love
Probiotic beverages are having a moment. When I started working with a nutritionist one-on-one a couple years ago (shoutout to Megan at The Nutrition Addiction!), one of the first things she had me focus on was to repair my gut lining and microbiome after years of Crohn’s disease treatment and food intolerances. Besides starting on a prebiotic and probiotic supplement, she also encouraged me to give kombucha or other probiotic beverages a try. While I found that I am definitely not a fan of strong or more savory flavors like Ginger or Grapefruit, I have found some sweeter-flavored versions that I actually enjoy drinking. Below are my 10 probiotic beverages (in no particular order) I reach for whenever I’m at the store.
Simple Truth Organic Strawberry Lemonade
This was my OG probiotic beverage that I tried thanks to Megan’s recommendation. I found it at Fry’s which is my usual grocery store so it was always easy to get. It can be tart at first sip, so be warned.
GT’s Living Limited Winter Edition Pure Love Kombucha
This one is only available during winter but it is worth the wait. I found this one at Target but I’ve seen it at Whole Foods too. I like that the flavor is different than any other one that I’ve seen.
Health-Ade Kombucha in Bubbly Rose
Rounding out my traditional kombucha picks is this Bubbly Rose flavor. It’s pretty subtle and I’ve even seen this flavor used for cocktails before by the Tone It Up girls (this was originally a collab with them). I’ve only ever seen this one sold at Whole Foods, so I would look there first if you want to give it a try.
Wild Tonic Blackberry Mint Raw Jun Kombucha
If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen me post about this kombucha or the next one, both by Wild Tonic. I love these kombuchas since they are sweetened with honey (the Jun part), instead of sugar. It makes it sweeter than your usual kombucha, without added artificial sugars. Also their flavor combos are the best.
Wild Tonic Blueberry Basil Raw Jun Kombucha
My other go-to, this one is a close second to the Blackberry Mint for me in taste, but you really can’t go wrong either way. Both the Blueberry and Blackberry are hard to find because they sell out pretty often here in Tucson, but Safeway and Whole Foods both carry Wild Tonic.
Wild Tonic Chai Pear Raw Jun Kombucha
Finishing up my clear love affair with Wild Tonic is their Chai Pear seasonal flavor. I normally find this in fall and winter here in Tucson, right at the peak of my chai obsession. I like that you never see pear in many drinks and it makes it a little more special to find it in my opinion. I’ve only seen this flavor at Whole Foods when it’s offered, so check there first.
OLIPOP Vintage Cola Sparkling Tonic
This is definitely not your usual probiotic beverage. I first saw this brand featured in a Sunset magazine article and decided to try it when I saw it at Whole Foods. For those who want the taste of soda but not the sugar, this is a great option. It definitely tastes like cola cola, so if you’re not into the traditional flavor, this wouldn’t be for you.
OLIPOP Strawberry Vanilla Sparkling Tonic
I’ll be honest, I was very skeptical about this flavor at first. I was afraid it would taste like weird artificial strawberries or be too overpowering and sweet, but I was wrong. This is the perfect summer flavor and has the perfect amount of fizz. I found this one at Whole Foods as well.
poppi Blueberry Prebiotic Soda
Right after I discovered OLIPOP, I found this prebiotic soda. The blueberry and sage flavor is kind of similar to the Wild Tonic Blueberry but more savory and fizzy. I’ve only bought these at Whole Foods but it looks like they sell them on Amazon too.
poppi Raspberry Rose Prebiotic Soda
Last but definitely not least is poppi’s Raspberry Rose. If you like raspberries, this flavor is for you. It is sweet and tart at the same time, and the rose is the perfect addition to make it a little different. Again, found this one at Whole Foods but it looks like Amazon carries it too.
This post is not sponsored- I just really like these products. All thoughts/opinions are my own.
